Historically, pancakes were discovered by accident when a chef placed a cake batter over a flat top. When the levening reacted the batter bloomed over the edge of the bowl and onto the skillet below and the first pancake was born. To tell the doneness of a pancake: First side- when the bubbles stop forming on the surface, flip it. When the steam slows down and when lightly pressed the surface will spring back when done. No grease/fat needed if using seasoned or teflon surface. Serve with maple syrup and enjoy!

They go best with gobs of butter (real butter), Aunt Jemimah syrup, bacon and eggs, and fresh-squeezed OJ, preferrably from a milkglass Sunkist reamer. Big navel orages that have been in the ice box all night. Served to the redhead, in bed, with a long-stemmed blood-red rose.

They're disgusting in my opinion! No matter how much syrup you put over them, they just absorb them like soggy sponges...Ugh...Waffles are WAY better. Oh wait, pumpkin pancakes are really good! :)

They are round and yummy - usually served with butter and syrup and eaten at breakfast time.
Tom's Diner has the best ones.
