When does 6 plus 5 = nine

Ice hound got it (can't give the points yet though). It is a classic, but since I see a variation of the truthy troll vs lying troll puzzle at least every third day here, I thought it would be a welcome change. Example below

It is a matchstick puzzle ... take six sticks and line them up parallel to each other. Then take five more sticks to arrange them to form the word NINE (one for the first N, one for the second N, and three for the E).

6 + 5 = 9 when 6 and 5 are modified by the number -1
Therefore, mod 6 = 5.
AND
mod 5 = 4.
so the mod 6 + mod 5 = mod 9
