First, I just read the first 10 or so answers, and they were atheist sound bites that demonstrate what Lenin once said, if you say a lie often enough, it becomes the truth.

I keep it simple. A creator is an undefined God. I truly believe we will soon be able to conclude that our existence is impossible without a creator.

God is a creator with many more attributes and associated beliefs. These attributes and beliefs define the religion. All religions are faith based, as stated in every religion's tenets, and promptly forgotten, since by rights, for a believer, faith becomes, and should become, truth.

Belief in a creator is good for people and society. Intellectually, philosophy died the day we became random quirks of nature, if we are random quirks of nature, then you are forced to conclude, in the grand scheme of things, life is meaningless. Even worse, philosophy tried to define the role of society in a godless environment and Nazism and Marxism resulted. Very bad and still bad.

Religion is a belief system revealed by God that Man might worship Him. The ritual involves prayer, fellowship, and sacrifice within a community of believers.

Only four or five True Religions exists. The rest are cults and sects.

Religion is a system of social coherence commonly understood as a group of beliefs or attitudes concerning an object, person, imaginary being, or system of thought considered to be supernatural, sacred, divine or highest truth, and the moral codes, practices, values, institutions, and rituals associated with such belief or system of thought. It is sometimes used interchangeably with "faith" or "belief system"[1], but is more socially defined than that of personal convictions.

Basically religion is to prepare you, before you enter into God new world, His glory is to much for us, we are weak and need to prepare our souls, God glory is so strong that we can't stand on our feet as long as we have blood in our bodies, no man is able to stand in His glorious light, we hit the dirt, although in Heaven we'll have new bodies in order to with stand His glory, but we need to learn, gain knowledge and feed the soul.... prepare.
