There is no quickest way, sorry.
Don't see them anymore. Don't call them anymore. Don't be open to having them call you. Stay away from their family and your mutual friends until you feel better and stronger and know you won't cause yourself more pain. Don't hash over it 1000 times with your friends...it doesn't help you and people get tired of hearing it and seeing you dumping around after awhile. It's not because they don't care about you but it's just human nature to avoid unpleasantness for extended periods of time.
Don't get drunk, don't get high, don't go crazy and start getting laid by friends or strangers and especially don't go out and start anything up with anyone else that you will not carry through because you can't do that right now. It would not be fair or enjoyable for you or the other person to use them...and that is what it would be. You need to have time to process what you are feeling and then move on from it.
Movies ARE excellent...they take your mind somewhere else at least for a little while. Stock up and hunker down.
Get plenty of sleep and eat good food--it's hard but you need it.
Get outside and get active--that's hard, too, but it will make you feel better. Some people write things down. Some go to a counselor and talk about it for awhile.
Say your prayers, learn a lesson from it...and know that it will pass with time.
Take care.

The span of time to get over can never be determine but this is the list of what you could do. Hope this helps..
> Keep away from your sight all the things he gave you.
- don't throw them just hide it for the mean time, until the
sentimental value became a crap.
> Don't revist the places you been through together.
- for this places would only remind you of him.
> Don't watch romatic flicks or listen to romantic music
- this would make you feel the longing for his presence.
> Keep yourself busy
- making yourself busy at home or at work would keep your
mind so busy that you'll have no time to think of him.
> Don't start dating yet.
- because there are advantages and disadvantages in a date.
If your date was really good then you'll move on pretty well but
if not you'll again think about your ex, saying my ex is better, I
should have not let him go... may ex like this and that... yet, it
still up to you to take the risk..
