Overcome depression, lost my job as a nurse (20 years), divorced my first husband, suicidal thoughts. But the most liberating thing I did was overcome homelessness. I was living in a shelter, staying with friends, out of work. I have gone to school for 2 years, got my certificate as a billing specialist (3.76 gpa). Held the same job for almost 5 years. Have my own place, car and everything in it is my own.

I jumped off a cliff. The moment when one foot was still on the earth but the rest of my body was in the air and there was no turning back was the most incredible feeling I ever felt.

The other was when I realized that religion was a myth. That we live and die and that's it. That our only immortality was through our children and family. It was a liberating feeling. I've been a better human being for it.

the thing i have dont that made me feel the best was this: i was walking down the street, it was a saturday and i had my first job, i had always been very poor and even homeless, i say a woman sitting on a park bench crying with a baby and 2 young children. she had been kicked out by her abusive husband and had no home, they had been on the street for 4 days already and hardly had eaten, i talked to them all for a while and then took them to luch and the kids to a movie, i then let them stay with me for 2 days and found them a semi-permanent unit to stay in while she got on her feet, i am 16 this was when i was 14 (i was living alone). only last year i was kicked out of my home and i had no where to go, she was walking down the street and saw me, she noticed me and took me in for two weeks, doing that for her and having that in return made me feel awsome because i realised just how hard life can be but if you just try and lend a helping hand to a complete stranger one day it may come back to you.

the second liberating thing i have dont was leave home for good at 15 and break free from my abusive step-father. he made me feel depressed and worthless for years and it felt so good to finaly break free.

Believe it or not I would have to say READING! When I was a child I HATED to read. It caused me a lot of problems. Well, I got in some trouble with my Dad and couldn't leave the house. So, out of boredom ( I was a tomboy type) I picked up a book my Dad had and low and behold got lost in another world!
Now, when i need to relax, or forget, or feel liberated or ant other thing you can IMAGINE; I read!

Drag racing.

Ive lived more in those few seconds than most have their entire lives.

Doing what you love is the only true liberty.

Disclaimer: Unless what you love causes others harm or is just plain sick and or wrong. There are things called ethics. Then you are just a moron being weird.

became a recreational nudist. There's nothing that makes you feel more freedom then walking nude on the beach with a lot of other people doing the same thing. It is in no way a sexual thing it's a body acceptance thing and a way to be free and relaxed. I highly recommend it.

Hashish! All those imaginary bounderies I had built for myself came down...and I realized that I could go anywhere and be anything that I wanted...problem was that it was the beginning of a 33 year addiction to chemicals.

I let my oldest son go. Meaning I let him move out on his own. I didnt want too, I was always overbearing, but when it came down too it , I think that this was the most liberating thing that I ever did.
