I am not afraid to get up and a give a speech, or get up infront of people. My problem is that when I am in the middle of my speech and I mess up I get really nervous and usually start shaking. I always finish my speech but everyone in the room notices how nervous I get and they notice the shaking.
Any tips?

You are noticing yourself. Being "self - focused" The lesson that always stuck with me is that if there is more than you in the room, and you are talking, THAT is public speaking. Remind yourself when you are not on a stage and see if you shake then. Once you get comfortable with "public speaking" you won't shake anymore. You will likely ALWAYS be nervous....but that's good! It means it's important to you! Just try to ALWAYS know your subject matter well. That is the true key. Confidence! Good luck!!

For one thing, I hope you're not using a planned, written out speech. If so, that could be part of your problem, because you're not speaking from yourself or from your heart.

Just get up there and don't even plan ahead of time what you're going to say. Don't ever use a written speech or a "script" for any job.

Everyone messes up, but the trick is to relax and keep going. Don't sweat it if you trip over a few words, people do it all the time and if you just keep going nobody will notice. I used to shake also, but I improved with practice and so will you

Get over it, if your giving ah speech an your nervice just take ah deep breath and believe in your self, You dont have to believe what your saying but feel the pasion in your words, if you mess up just fill it in as soon as you notice with your own words, put down your paper (so to speek) an add in something you feel. Make them believe that you care deeper than what they expected.
just dont sweat it.

I always make a point of keeping water nearby, and if I slip, I ask the audience to give me a moment with a smile, and then I take a sip (pause to gain composure), then I continue on.

Stopping is the best way to re-focus.

Keep practicing the speech. Practice it with mistakes so if they happen during to real thing they seem second nature.

try to memorize your speech the best you can, and ultimately, RELAX! if you make a mistake, laugh about it, excuse yourself, or even make a little joke, and go on. that should ease the tension a little in the room. that way, you don't have to feel nervous--usually if you admit a mistake, it makes you feel sooo much better. :-)
