I think in terms of suffering, people can lead a hellish existence in physical or emotional pain. How horrible to have a mental illness but not be able to will yourself out of it, so you suffer each and every day on this earth.
But the Hell mentioned in the Bible is supposed to be a physical place of continual pain and torment, and true separation from God. No rest for the wicked.

Look at the word hell as used in the Bible in the Hebrew and Greek. It's not what the Catholic church and subsequently Protestant chuches made it out to be. Hell is translated from the words Gehennom (physical place in this world which was a trash dump where criminal were occasionally burned alive,) Sheol (Hebrew for grave,) and Hades (the Greek Mythological "hell." Also hell comes from the word hele which means to cover or conceal. Draw your own conclusions.

I always thought it was Anaheim California. The bible speaks of it as a physical place of torment (torture you never get used to) for Satan and his demons, since Satan deceived man and the bible that before knowing the Lord we are slaves to the Devil and his wicked schemes that we're basically going with him. He's not going to rule and reaign there but be punished.
I imagined hell as a place of darkness, no physical body but just thoughts. Constant rememberance of the biggest mistake ever made, no rest, no fellowship with others, just total darkness and eternity to reflect on your life and regrets. That'd be pretty effed up

I think hell is a state of mind. everyone has a conscience and that is what hell is. You can only escape your thoughts for so long, eventually it will all catch up with you, when you die.

Yes hell is in your mind. You are born into it like everyone else after the fall of the Most Ancient Church.
"And I have the keys of hell and death, signifies that He alone can save. By "keys" is signified the power of opening and shutting; here the power of opening hell, that man may be brought forth, and of shutting, lest, when he is brought forth, he should enter again. For man is born in evils of all kinds, thus in hell, for evils are hell; he is brought out of it by the Lord, to whom belongs the power of opening it. That by "having the keys of hell and death," is not meant the power of casting into hell, but the power of saving, is because it immediately follows after these words:
Behold, I am alive for ages of ages;
by which is signified that He alone is eternal life (n. 60); and the Lord never casts anyone into hell, but man casts himself. By "keys" is signified the power of opening and shutting, in Revelation also (3:7; 9:1; 20:1; also in Isa. 22:21, 22; in Matt. 16:19; and in Luke 11:52). The power of the Lord is not only over heaven, but also over hell; for hell is kept in order and connection by oppositions against heaven; for which reason, He who rules the one must necessarily rule the other; otherwise man could not be saved; to be saved is to be brought out of hell" (Apocalypse Revealed n. 62).
