His friends probably heard and are giving him sh*t for it. He doesn't want them to do that, so he is saying that you're retarded to get his status back w/ them. Get him alone and try to talk to him. Then you will be able to tell if he likes you back or not.

Ok if understand at the begining the guy was cool with the fact that you like him and then he told you that you are retarded.Well i really don't know what happened but i think someone told him something bad about you,or he saw you doing something bad,and now he is mad at you.But don't let away the idea that the "retarded" can be him.Well i will just suggest that you have a conversation with him about that.

Neediness and desperation are unattractive. You can't make him like you the way you like him. You will only annoy him if you try. He is mad becuase you don't get it.
Date other guys, but not exclusively. Remember that in the animal kingdom, males compete for females.....
Make guys compete for your attention. He might pay more attention to you if you are not always there and available for him. Date guys who try to win you over by treating you like a princess. Date guys who care about how you feel.
Date guys that are so nice to you that you want to call all your friends and brag about them.

He sounds like a jerk and someone who is really mean and you don't want to be with a person like that anyway, and if you do then you have a problem in that you don't value yourself enough. If you had someone you loved, would you want them to be with someone who was so mean to them? Now... apply that to yourself because you should love yourself more than anyone.

maybe your doing something thats getting him mad like flirting with others guys while you say you like him, or it could be that you say that you like him and dont do anything about it.

i used to flirt with this one girl till she started nagging and nagging to talk more to me and pretty much offering herself to me on a silver platter..
