I went off of a low-dose bc pill after 2 of my friends on the same one got pregnant during my freshman year at college.

Later, friends of mine got pregnant on several different pills, and 2 ladies I know got pregnant while on the depo shot.

Both of my babies were concieved on Alesse 28.

BC pills are great. They help to regulate your period, and make it lighter, shorter and less painful. They reduce the chance of pregnancy.

But they won't prevent it. Whatever the dose. And the lower the dose the higher the risk.

You know the failure rates they report? 98% effective?

When I got pregnant with my first child, the doctor asked if I had missed any pills. I hadn't. He asked if I always took them at the same time. Normally I did, but a month earlier I had been out late one night, and took the pill two hours later than I normally did. So they didn't report the pregnancy to the people who keep those statistics.

Always use a second form of bc, condoms or a diaphram, unless you are prepared to have a child. If you have a debit/credit card, go to CondomDepot.com. They have cheap prices and free shipping in discreet boxes. And if you're dating, you don't need to disclose that you're on the pill. Men put up less fuss about using condoms if they don't know.

It's great to be on Birth Control for many reasons. One great thing about it is that you'll always know when your period is about to start.

You should also talk to your doctor and your partner about this and ask any and all questions you have. You should also voice any concerns your partner has to the doctor as well.
