If not, could I buy something to make it work? I mean, besides a new DVD player.

There is a company named Cyberhome that makes DVD components but recently ran into some trouble becuse they did not code their machines to play only one region (the region they were sold in). People caught on to it and now they are in trouble. So, to answer your question, if you can get your hands on a Cyberhome DVD Player, you should be able to play multi- region formatted discs with it.

It will depend on the DVD players accepted format compare to the format that disc is. Check the dvd player. Most American dvd players can play +/- r/rw. I am not sure the region 2 europe translates to.

You could buy a Region-free DVD Player on ebay.com, there is no other way to make a region 2 dvd work on a US dvd player, unless it's in Region 1! Goodluck!

I bought a Lasonic DVB-8092 off eBay. It is not only regionless, but plays both NTSC and PAL and outputs either one of these formats, so it converts everything in all directions. Was about $80.00
