Did Man O' War's pedigree really go back to the Godolphin Arabian?

all thoroughbreds come from three horses- the Godolphin Arabian, Eclipse(a thouroughbred) and the Byerly Turk. read any horse book on the Thoroughbred (=in length) and it will tell you that. Interestingly enough, the Byerely Turk was a large percentage of Arabian heritage.

Man O' War is also a direct descendant of the Godolphin Arabian.

You can trace the lines on most thoroughbreds back to about 1700.
I can trace mine back that far.
He has Man O War on his pedigree.
If you go back to 1700 the line goes back to the Darley Arabian
But so do most of them.

i have been told that all modern horses can have their roots traced back to 3 seperate horses of that period. It seems to be a true statement-as i have never heard anybody disagree with it at all! GREAT QUESTION!!
