Max is about 5/12 years old. I got him from the pound 2 1/2 years ago... He is an excellent dog and never had any problems until about a month ago, he peed in my bed when I wasn't home. He has now done this 4 times... Today I left for 2 hours and when I came home discovered it... I can't catch him in the act. I am at a loss... and am about to freak out on him, I cannot let this go on! Someone said he might have a blatter infection or something, but he seems to be going just fine any other time!!!! I thought if I gave him more attention, which I have been taken him on more frequent walks.. but nothing seems to be helping!!! What should I do??????

Dogs are very good about getting us to notice a problem. My dog started peeing all over the house in front of me (never did this before) I started to wonder why she was being deviant and coming up to me and peeing. I took her to vet and found out she has diabetes. Her peeing in front of me was her trying to tell me something was wrong (vet agreed). Max may have something going on that u may not be notiicing. Was there another dog at the house who may have jumped on your bed? he may smell that dog and want to mark that as his territory. If this continues and there isnt a health issue, I would shut your bedroom door and not let him in there. good Luck

Is your dog fixed? He could possibly be marking his territory on your bed. It could be a bladder infection. When he did it the first time did you wash and then rewash your bed clothes with detergent and really hot water? Maybe even try to get a steam cleaner and run it over your mattress. If the dog smells any reminisce of his pee still on the bed...he will continue to go there. Woolite makes a pet odor remover that you could spray on your mattress maybe. Your best bet is to make sure to close your door to your room if possible so that he cant get in there. Or maybe just try changing the sheets and blankets completely to see if that stops him. If this doesn't work, take him to the vet to make sure there is nothing wrong with him.

He misses you when you are out. When he pees on your bed (which reminds him of you), he "marks his territory" which is his way of "possessing a part of you". Next time, just before leaving, let him go outside to pee. Then close your bedroom door to deny him access to your bed. Also, you could buy another dog to keep Max company so he won't feel so lonely for you. Hope this helps!

Where it is all of a sudden. I would have the vet check for the bladder infection. They pee where we will find it if they are asking for our help. Just to be sure.

My dog did this when he smelt someone else but me or his hair/fur on the bed. We cleaned it and he didnt do it. He also did it when he was a puppy and saw a worker bringing a new bed into my brothers room.
Try cleaning it.

Maybe he gets scared when your not there, Or he sleeps there and you leave the air conditioner on when dogs are cold when they sleep on a bed, they pee, thats how mine is, untill i bought him a little bed pad that heats up when he sleeps.

If you have a back yard, I recomend that you put the dog out all day and night if he pees in your bed. Dogs are pack animals and you must be the boss dog of the pack. The worst thing you can do to a dog is kick him out of the pack and thats what you do when you put him outside. Then in the morning give him another chance. He will figure it out.

What we did with my dog is we bought him a kennel and he sleeps in there. This allows us to be sure that he cannot get into anything. Whenever we leave home for the day, we put him in there and he is fine. I must say this though, it is not cruel to leave your pet in a crate/kennel, after a while, the dog sees this as his/her safe place, they go there to sleep and whatever else. It is a very humane way of being sure.
