I know what you mean when you say "lose muscle" but actually you don't lose it, it just gets softer and so not as strong. The muscle fiber starts softening after a week of not doing anything and after 2 -3weeks you're back where you started from, bummer huh!

Men tend to build muscle but also loose it faster when the quit doing exercise, six months and you already start loosing if you do nothing. Women usually take more time to build up muscle but maintain it longer with no exercise.

You dont lose muscle, the muscle turns into fat. careful, always keep working out, even if just a little.

I don't have a medically proven answer, but from personal expierence I have noticed as fast as a few weeks. Technically the muscle won't disapear but the the fibers weaken.

because your body feeds off body fat. and if you dont have enough fat it will break down your muscles into fat. or some crap like that
