I'm still in high school and i'm thinking of going for med school.
How long does it take to finish all the university courses and graduate?
Ans how long are those follow-up practice years until you became a real doctor?

It depends where you are, but as for UK some universities offer 6 years course which includes a Science degree - intercalated year. during this extra year you will undertake a series of modules and a supervised research project or additional taught modules in an area of particular scientific/medical interest.
Other universities offer a 5 year course instead including the intercalated year and others don't.

Some universities offer what's called a 4 year "fast-track or graduate" entry programme for medicine, but this is only for people who already have a degree.

Recently the medical training system in the UK has just been overhauled under a system called Modernising Medical Careers so it's all still in a state of flux. Essentially after medical school you apply for a 2 year foundation scheme. This consists of 4 month placements in a number of areas. So this is still part of your training.

Following that there is a further 2-3 years during which you are expected to obtain the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians and at the same time work like hell.

Once the exam has been passed you progress registrar training of at least 5 years depending on specialty.
