The answer to this is yes and no. I am speaking for California law as I am a Probation Officer here. When someone is on probation there are always terms that apply to that person. Generally speaking the answer would be yes, you can associate with others on probation. If the answer were no, half-way houses, group homes, foster agencies, sober livings, DUI schools, etc. would all be in violation and out of luck. Typically "do not associate" orders as they are called, apply across the board for gang members...that is, they CANT be around any other gang member. The other circumstance would be if the judge or Probation Officer ordered the offender not to associate with a previous crime partner. Also there are varying degrees of probation. Understand that Parole and Probation are completely seperate terms and have NOTHING to do with the other. You CAN be a felon on Probation, but you CANT have a misdemeanor and be on Parole!

It depends on the terms of the probation. Check with your probation officer.

felons can not hang with felons... it is difficult these days.. because in some families two or more people are felons... on probation or parole...so it is getting hard to enforce. but in the cases..i have come across probation is not emphasized as ,much as parole and felonies. i will have to recheck when i go to work...tomorrow. those on probation with misdemeanor charges should be allowed to associate..
