You want it plain and simple ? I will tell you :
Their mission is for the following reasons :
1- To protect the U.S Oil investments in Iraq.
2- To stay close to its "favorite" ally - Israel - !!
3- To be there as stand by forces, when the new "Middle-East" project is implemented, and Israeli forces needed help.
4- To help the new Iraqi Govt. settling down,by helping them to enforce their regime on the Iraqi people.
Those were the main tasks on the "Agenda" of the U.S military in Iraq ( among other duties ......of course ) !!!

Umm, we went there for oil and nothing else! We were importing more oil from Iraq when Saddam was in power than we are now. Meanwhile the US can hike our gas prices using the war as pretext for slow oil exports from Iraq. I never hear of oil wells burning and exploding in Iraq, so why can't halliburton deliver us the much needed oil? Afterall, is'nt that what they promised us when they invaded that country? The war would pay for itself with oil profits? Seems to me they're controlling the production so the gas prices will hit the roof and the oil companies can make thousands of dollars an hour. This greedy administration had no other reason to invade a helpless country like Iraq but for oil! There have been endless excuses for invading, but WMD was the original. Doing away with a tyrant and spreading democracy followed. Nope, none of those had anything to do with our aggression and I never bought it from the very start. I don't care how many times our village idiot claimed that they were responsible for 9/11.

The first mission was to enforce the UN resolutions agreed to by the cease fire agreement ending Gulf War One.
The second mission is to assist the new regime in Iraq until they can stand on their own against the insurgency.
The first mission has been accomplished. Whether it was necessary to invade to accomplish it is still in debate, but invade we did.
The second mission is still in progress, and is something of a moral dilemma. We created the situation in Iraq and have a moral obligation to see it through. As a friend of mine put it, "It doesn't matter whether it was a good idea to get the girl pregnant. It's our baby and we have to pay the child support."

Since when has war been clear cut? Since when has a president had everyone's approval all the time? Everyone who has been in the military at one time or another knows they can't even tell their families what their mission is most of the time-why should you take precedence over their own families? You have the right to your opinion but maybe you should take a look at the other side before you close your mind.

None of the above. Oh sure the White House will give you any of the above to satisfy the public.
So for the sheep like non thinking Americans, please choose one or more of the above and defend it until your blue in the face, and all will be well in your world (for now) Just keep drinking the koolaid.
For the truth seekers, ....well you know the answers, just keep exposing the truth so our beloved nation will not loose more of its freedoms
