I have two parakeets...one learned to perch on my finger in just a few weeks but the other one is so stubborn and refuses to go any where near my hand! I want my trained one to learn how to talk and I want my other one to feel comfortable with my hand.

p.s these are my first birds ever

Usually when there's more than one bird, they won't talk. Hand taming is just a matter of patience. Keep on trying. Good luck.

A good method to get a bird to perch on one's hand is to gradually introduce them to it by using an object like a pencil, then when its comfortable with that, use your hand:) As for training a parakeet to talk, their brain capacity is very limited. They can learn a few words at best. -Repetition will work just fine. If you want to learn more about birds as pets, Birdtalk magazine is a great resource.

definite. you may practice a parakeet to communicate. First once you've any toys which have mirrors on your chicken, you opt to take them out. Birds seem into mirrors and imagine that there are more effective than merely themselves in the cage with them. 2d sit down such as your parakeet and say something you desire them to assert. this will also artwork in case you had a tape recorder, Say what you desire into the recorder many times. Your parakeet will actually communicate. good luck.

Just take your time. Talk to your keet with a soft voice and reasure her. But unfortunatly your birds will never talk. Keets dont have that much intelegence when it comes to talking. If your interested in talking birds might i suggest looking into buying an African Grey. Now those are talkers. haha. Back to the taiming part. Once you do get your bird on your finger....try laddering. Just press you finger on its belly gently and say step up...do this repeatedly. Alot of handling and patience comes into play when your owned by a bird!!
