Do you think you have to be a scientist to ask or answer questions in the science section?

Then why do people complain about freethinkers and other atheist asking and answering questions in the religion and spirituality section? They often are more knowledgeable about religion then those still infected with it. It's funny how some even get offended when some one of the "wrong" religion posts in here.

Indeed. I've seen other sections where Christians (mainly) jump in spouting their crap about religion, or quoting from the Bible as if it were an obvious and infallible answer. Yet if any free thinker dares to answer a religious or philosophical question, they get all mad like this is a private club where only the brainwashed are allowed to chant the same answers in unison.

I noticed the heading said "Religion" meaning all and any. But what gets me is people posting dumb question about their physical body or their dog instead of a question on religion. Also I wonder how many people just ask questions to get something going. We all want the same thing. Most of us want to end up at the same place. We just have different routes to get there. As far as Christians not acting like Christians....Shame on us. I don't know how any others should act because I went from evolutionist to Christian and I don't know anything else. But I do know how Christians should act.

I don't think that you have to be a top theologian or scientist to answer questions in those fields, it just helps to know what you're talking about. I'm not about to answer a question on quantum physics or the inner wrokings of a 57 Chevy engine when I haven't a clue about it and most of the time when people answer questions without knowing what the heck they're talking about usually come off opinionated about heresay information

So you can chime in all you want about anything but it'll show ignorance if you know not of what you speak.

I don't mind if you ask a religious question if you are curious about God. I just feel it is unnecessary for you to try to disprove a faith-based belief. There are a lot of people on this site who mock the beliefs or disbeliefs of others. There's no reason for that. I believe in the Lord with all of my heart and all of my mind. You will not change that with sarcastic questions or mocking statements. I will defend my beliefs when they are attacked. I'm sure you would too.

By the way, I do believe you shouldn't answer questions with authority if you aren't qualified to do so. So many people on this site answer questions that they know nothing about and it causes problems for those who were seeking help. I try to answer only those questions where my knowledge and experience can be helpful.

There are lots of confused people on the boards and some of them have a better knowledge of their religion then they do. It's a challenge to dig deeper into their faith to be better prepared to answer questions...
...I don't appreciate anyone calling other people's answers "crap" though I must say. Don't bash others because their words rub you the wrong way or offend you. I got offended on the roads but hey, I'd be crazy if i discarded my licence because I got flipped off once!

A big thumbs up for that question! I have seen many questions like "why do atheists answer questions here?" At the same time Christians refer to Atheists as a religion when it suits them "It is the belief that there is no god" they say. Isn't the truth that they are just intolerant? They certainly don't wast any time on reporting a question they don't like!

Absolutely not.....this is not a church , but seriously, this is just like grade school all over again....the only thing that keeps me coming back is that sometimes the questions/comments are very profound and thought provoking, actually stimulating.

I find that the atheists/agnostics, in general, present some really good questions/observations....

No, you don't. Some people get all wadded up because their beliefs are challenged, but this is a free forum for anybody to ask anything they want about religion and spirituality.

Anybody thinking that non-believers should stop asking "stupid" questions needs to move to Iran post-haste.

I agree. You don't hav to be religious to post here. As long as your question is in the right section then it really does not matter. Atheists are allowed to be curious about certain aspects of religion. We are not ignorant and close-minded like some make us out to be.
