I froze 4 bananas about 4 years ago as part of a Highschool Science project, but we never conducted it. Would they still be ok to thaw now and eat?
I hate to waste good food.

Absolutely no they are not good to eat any more. Freezer burn has completely taken them over, the only thing left is the banana shape. Sorry. Toss them. Nana

Bananas break down in the cold, so just the act of freezing and de-frosting will alter its consistency to a mush. Probably not great on the edible side, but will likely make good compost for the garden (albeit a very small quantity). Take a small sample once thawed and compare it under the microscope to a small sample of fresh banana - you should be able to see the cell disintegration. Happy experimenting!
