There are plenty of Christians in America who are not bigoted against gays, who understand that a woman's body is her own, and who appreciate that others worship differently.
Sadly, damage has already been done by the Religious Reich. Blue laws still exist, and there is still discrimination. But the moderate Christians are able to temper that, so that America does not turn into another Iraq.
Some may claim that America enjoys the First Amendment. That does mitigate the situation some, but it wasn't enough to stop Sen. McCarthy in his ramage. The Constitution is as effective as the people who elect the leaders.

When you say to religous people look at the facts they say you test my faith, you see that's the brilliance of it the more you prove them wrong the sronger their belief becomes, it's very good whoever created this religious cult in roman times did a very good job!

cause they are powerless to have an intelligent conversation when publicly confronjted by a critical thinker who disagrees with their values and must cling to ignorance,hypocrisy and self righteousness like they never have before to maintain their blind faith. they are feeble minded and have had to learn to pool their financial resources and form large congregations to maintain social tolerance of their bs and the church is a large money making political machine, aetheists need to wake up and learn from them and form the church of freethinking and get themselves a couple of lobbyists also.
