This question is directed to those people who are forever making all encompassing statements like, "Christians are ignorant", etecera.

I'm curious how educated the people saying these things actually are. Making statements like that seems to indicate that they had not thought things through very well and have nothing intelligent to say, not to mention that comments like that are entirely beside the point in nearly all cases.

Correct me if I'm wrong, of course.

In the words of one of my favorite teachers, "Ignorance is not knowing. Stupid is knowing and doing it anyway." You are not being called stupid or uneducated, you are being called ignorant. As in you don't know something.

Only the ones who claim the bible is an accurate representation of historical events or is based on anything other than mythology.

I have a 3rd grade education and am functionally illiterate. My IQ has been measured between 50 and 75.

But, how does my advanced education and superior intelligence relate to the logical conclusions as stated in the first paragraph?

To me, calling a Christian ignorant is the same as calling him or her close minded. I do believe a lot of them a very well read and very intelligent. I find them ignorant when they completely beat down my beliefs without even thinking it through. If they say homosexuality is wrong because it says so in the bible, I say that I don't believe in the bible...what now? I have yet to get an answer to that, other than them saying that I'm going to hell. I know Christians in real life that I have the utmost respect for as they respect me in return. But people online who claim to be Christian are just hateful sometimes.

I think most of the answers that you are commenting on are probably directed to those Christians that are doing the same thing in there questions. Apple falling far from the tree thing. I am not ever going to respond to Christians that belittle others or the others that belittle Christians. And to be honest I think both parties are showing their ignorance.

When people claim that Christians are "ignorant," they're not saying Christians uneducated or have dropped out of school. They're just calling them (Christians) blind for following a faith that many believe to be silly/false/etc.

Ignorance and uneducated are two entirely different things.

On another note, from the horrendous spelling, grammar, and English skills I've seen on this site, it seems that the majority of the people on here are uneducated, Christian or not.

No of course not. There are intelligent people in every belief system.

I try not to make presumptions about anyone.. am I perfect no I do occasionally slip like everyone else and do that... however I consciously try not to.

As far as your actual question.. yes I know there are intelligent christians... I'm married to one.

I have commonly seen such statements (or implied statements) by Atheists on the internet.

I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).

For scientific and intellectual evidence for the existence of God, see http://www.godsci.org/gs/godsci/evidence.htm

Cordially,
John

It is proven scientific fact that Christians are usually less intelligent then non-believers, If you click on my profile you'll see links to two websites that host some of the scientific facts on the matter.

No, not at all. In fact I would argue that people make such sweeping generalizations clearly lack a grasp on the diversity of the Christian population.

Stupidity runs everywhere, FL,WV,Japan, Thailand. No matter where you go, someone from every religion says that all members of another religion, or sect of a religion, are stupid, ignorant, etc. Most times they are contradicting their own religion!
