I used to live in san francisco. Now I live in NYC.
I miss the great taquerias with great burritos for cheap.
But, when I was out there, I have to say I miss alot more that I couldn't get out there: really good delis, good pizza, great Italian food, and the numerous cheap hole in the wall ethnic places that are unmatched in NY.
So, it's a tradeoff I suppose.

This sounds really odd, but when I was a kid I loved good old mac and cheese. My mom decided it was too fattening so she would buy top ramen instead (yeah, no logic) I would come home from school and make ramen in the microwave. The corners of the block of noodles that didn't touch the water would be crunchy and the middle would be almost gummy, but I would drain it and add butter and a bunch of american cheese (eww) and stir it until it all wound up in a cheesy crunchy ball on my fork. I can't have noodles like that due to a health problem and I apologise for any stomachs that ache thinking about this. I do miss it, twisted as it is.

I miss this Korean BBQ restaurant I used to regularly go to when I lived in Chula Vista, California. I moved since then and tried a few Korean restaurants near my new home but cannot closely compare it to the one I used to eat in. The portions were very large, and tasty. Another thing I would mention - Shakey's Pizza restaurants. They were here before, then went under and now they are coming back. One branch just reopened here in San Diego, California and I think their pizza is better than the other joints. They do not have delivery. I think if a particular food is very good it is worth going to instead of it being delivered to you. I would exert some effort in getting something tasty in my belly rather than something second rate being digested.

Every Friday night on the way home from work, I used to collect Doner Kebabs for my partner and I, along with a nice alcohol like Pernod.
One day we found out that Doner Kebabs were 500 calories a portion and that they were number one for food poisoning, so we stopped eating them. Loved the flavour of the sliced lamb and juicy salad and the pita bread smoothered in vinegar.

I moved from one area to another - about 1 hour away but I had found this great mexican resturant that made the best guacamole, just the way I do and the service was the awesome. They got to know me so when i woudl come in, they would bring the cheese dip with jalpeno's in it and the guac, sorry I am simple but I love those two things!

Two separate things: I miss the big pickled onions we used to get out of big jars at the local tavern. When I was a kid all those places sold huge pickled onions. They would give you a bunch of napkins and put the drained onion on top. They tasted sort of like the cocktail onions that Cross and Blackwell sells in small jars, but were big.
We lived in Maryland then.
The other item I miss is Gorton's canned codfish. My mom would make codfish cakes from them and brown them in a frying pan. They were so good, but they dont sell them anymore.

I moved 16 years ago and still miss In "n" Out burgers and Jack in the Box tacos. Whenever I go back home those are the first places we hit.

I miss Chi-Chi's Mexican restaurant. It was a pretty popular chain where I live, but has since gone out of business here. They had the very best bean burritos and nachos grande ever!

Cheez-it Twisters Hot Wings & Cheesy Blue. They quit making them and I even wrote to Sunshine & Kelloggs to try and get some more, with no success. I miss those spicy little tidbits!
