Im interested in buying an AR15 or M4. I'll target shoot with it (not competitivley) and probably wont use it to defend the home (got the Mossberg 500 for that :) but its one of those gotta have guns and im looking for a rifle in .223 anyway, so might as well consider these. Theres so many variations, but im looking for one of the ones thats clean and generic of a military version. Im not really looking for an all out custom crazy look that some of the upper end ones have that end up costing 1500- infinity dollars. I know i can expect less accuracy farther out with the M4, but personally, I like the way to looks.......Any thoughts opinions on different makers, what company to stay away from, which to buy from etc etc. Half of the fun in buying a new gun is researching and learning something of what everyone else knows. Thanks for any serious input, anyone who says get the AK47 you're truly worthless.

When I bought my (full size) "Colt" AR, my military friend got his shorty "Bushmaster."
Of course, whem we got them we went to squeeze some off right away.
I just cant tell you how much I LOVED, my AR. The weight was just right, no kick, very nominal, on target every time.
Then we switched.
I started to squeeze some from his shorty, (without thinking) expecting to feel the same or similar to mine.
To tell you the truth, it was not the same experience.
With the telescopic butt in or out ( no mid setting)-have to go aftermarket for a new butt, I guess- I felt a lot more kick.
The hard plastic edge kept digging in my skin, not comfortable.
The lenght i did not like either, I could not deside between having to hold onto the bottom of the magazine, or the actually fore part of the barrel (aft of the magazine).
The actual accuracy was also not as, after fast repetitive firing.
Then, I went back to mine and what a difference once again.
I was like driving a cadillac, or driving a lowered, rough bumpier little wheel low rider.
Try the regular AR trully love mine. I have the full-size with the detachable H-Bar.

a respectable AR15 is going to fee you approximately $800-1200 finding on the business enterprise. Bushmaster is on the greater low priced part, Colt is ludicrously overpriced. in actuality that that majority of the agencies purchase their aspects from someplace else, positioned them at the same time and slap their names on them. maximum DO make their very own decrease receiver...that's the gun it rather is self. Colt, from what I understand, easily makes use of a Stag hands receiver and places their very own emblem on it. To get a sturdy AR for the main inexpensive fee feasible, purchase your decrease for about $a hundred and then order a equipment for everywhere from $4 hundred-600 which will incorporate top, barrel, set off communities, etc and build it your self. you will keep a lot of money and get the authentic same rifle. it will additionally be plenty greater gratifying. additionally, as an component word, do no longer spend greater on chromed-lined barrels. you heavily is unlikely finished vehicle and you heavily isn't capturing in nasty circumstances, so which you will no longer want it. besides, it hurts accuracy. Edit: you could build your AR although you like, and at maximum any length with any attachments. Minus the vehicle and burst, of direction.

Bushmaster XM15 shorty - its an M4 clone and one of the better values on the market today. I picked one up for 750 used.

The AK is also a fine rifle, not as accurate to long range but a damn good s*** hits the fan kind of gun.

I got a Bushmaster XM-15, it's M-4 style, accurate for an M-4, and came with many accessories. I paid about $950.00 for it.

P.S. About your AK-47 comment, a gun is only as accurate as the one shooting it. At a hundred yards mine shoots very accurately.
