mention that it is really "the in thing" today to be lesbian and bi, and ask her how she feels about that. Not it being a fad, but the deal itself. If she doesnt start preaching how evil and gross she thinks it is, go ahead and tell her you've done it, or tell her anyway. After that, you got the same problem guys have talking to girls they wanna get with.

I wouldn't tell her straight away... in order to protect yourself, first find out how she thinks about homosexual women.
From a personal experience I know that it made me feel very unease when a girl at university told me that she was in love with me, I never saw it coming, she had never mentioned anything. Looking back I know that we could have stayed friends if she would have "prepared" me for what she was going to tell me.
My advise to you is to take your time talking to the girl you like...

first of all, tell her you are a lesbian... then see how she reacts... take tiny steps...
maybe she won't be freaked, but odds are she will be... ;)
then invite her round to your place, and wear something sexy and revealing... have a few drinks and approach her about your interest... if she bolts, you can always apologise for it being the drink... :D

Homosexuality is a perversion of nature and many people are still not comfortable with it regardless of all the hype about sexual equality.

Your grammer sucks, you sound like your five, and I hope you don't really talk like that. This is a stupid question why would ask this on yahoo answers? Just do it, god people on here are very weird.

Difficult - may be she has never considered it - would she like to dabble - even once - approach that subject before you tell her about you....

if she is a good friend, just say you are gay, and you like her, but respect her boundries if she doesnt respond. keep the distance to friends it should be ok. if she acts bad, she wasnt really your friend to begin with
