I am a student in NYU and recently joined here from abroad. What are nice ( also less expensive ) dance clubs in this area.. please advice...

LIT on 2nd Ave between 5th and 6th street (west side of the street... look carefully because it's easy to miss). They have dancing downstairs and upstairs... usually gets started a little later, though they have a great and cheap happy hour... it's usually empty, no dancing.
The Beauty Bar on 14th between 2nd and 3rd Ave.

if you are looking for less expensive, go to the east village or the lower east side. check out manahatta, plan b or bar 13
