I love you. Some of the atheists claim to know so much about Christ and yet they make ignorant statements that show they know nothing. If they would just research a little, they might actually discover what you and I have found - the love of Jesus Christ.

Actually, no. Claiming that a person cannot be "educated" without believing as YOU do is extraordinarily arrogant, as is the idea that such an omnipotent, omniscient being really has the slightest interest in any individual person. It's like you caring about what a bedbug in Kazakhstan had for breakfast two weeks ago; you don't care, do you? So why should God?
Not once in my life has a supreme deity of ANY denomination stepped in to do me any favors. I've had some disgustingly low points in life- places that I wouldn't wish anyone to go. It was difficult and frightening at times, but I pulled through it and I believe that all the power I need is within myself.
Please save me the "God was working through you!" line. It was my own intelligence and ability, combined with perseverance, that has gotten me all that I have today. That's the issue I see with all these repetitive "atheist" questions; they're just tired of hearing the same old story, and need to suck it up and do things themselves.
I'm not rich or famous, but I am happy, healthy and have hope for the future. I refuse to sit idly by and let others decide my fate for me or tell me how to live my life. I can think for myself without being bound by a "Holy Rulebook" deciding what I can and cannot do. Basically, I have all the freedoms that the overly pious have and then some.
I still have unanswered questions, but I will find the answers, as I have always done, without the help of the Bible .

I tried that once...and stopped at the 3rd chapter of genesis. My head started spinning when I read that god made Adam & Eve twice, spoke to other gods (the word elohim when properly translated means pantheon or brethern, and doesn't refer to angels...that's a christian/hebrew deceit), and lied to A&E that they would die upon eating the fruit, while the "great adversary" told the truth. God throwing them out before they could eat from the tree of eternal life didn't help any either.
I've done alot of studying the bible, not just reading. It doesn't hold up as accurate historically, scientifically, or culturally. Do some reading outside of the bible, and you'll see that many stories are different versions from pagan religions: ie, Cain and Able are Set and Osiris, Christ and Hercules have many similarities, etc. The prophecies that were claimed to come true, weren't written until after the events had already happened, and the rest are so vague that you can apply them to events now with some creativity.
Oh...and do the research. Everything the church wanted you to know is in there. God had little to do with it.

well can you refute this uneducated reply?
The Christian belief that atonement can only be effected through Jesus runs counter to the provisions for atonement prescribed in the Jewish Scriptures. First and foremost, God, and no one else, provides the means of reconciliation and fellowship (2 Chronicles 7:14), which precludes any claim for atonement through the death of Jesus. In contrast to the Christian concept that man is hopelessly entrapped in sin, the Jewish Scriptures provide ample testimony that although man may have an inclination towards evil (Genesis 8:21) the means of personal reconciliation with God are always at hand (e.g. Psalms 51:16-19, Jeremiah 29:13).

Your ignorance is showing again. Atheists, in America at least, typically began life as Christians, and have spent quite a bit of time reading the Bible. There are no answers in the bible, just a lot of claims, many of them obviously false.
You seem to be assuming that what makes one person a Christian and another a nonChristian is that the Christian has thought more about religion and has done more exploration of religion and of the bible. That is simply false. The typical atheist is more well-informed about the bible and Christianity than is the typical Christian, and in fact it is atheism, not religious belief, that reflects knowledge of these issues.
Each time that you post one of these false accusations of nonChristian ignorance, you only reveal your own ignorance and narrow-mindedness. I see that you've done so quite a bit already. There's a log in your eye, kid.

Non believers do not believe in God so they do not have too much to finding out from the Bible. But many they actually read Bible and / or have read it. And the most of their questions are far better than this very ignorant one.
I believe that the Bible is God's life manual for us, and I study it a lot. I suggest to you that you pick up your Bible instead of picking up a fight here. God bless you.

Actually, for a large number of atheists or agnostics (including myself) reading the bible is what turned them off to god in the first place.
The bible contains some of the bloodiest, most disturbing literature ever written. There are verses that simply turn the stomach, such as a man giving his two virgin daughters to an angry mob in exchange for peace and quiet, god sending bears to rend children to pieces, etc.
The majority of the laws and morality set forth in the bible no longer apply to modern society. For example, the bible advocates death by stoning as a penalty for rape...for the assailant _and_ the victim.
I recognize that these things were societally acceptable 2,000 years ago, but not today. What a lot of religious folks fail to realize is that by maintaining that the bible is the word of god, and the morality should remain unchanged, they are clinging to bronze-age survivalism. The only way to move forward as a society is to take the lessons from the past, learn from them, but leave them in the past.

I constantly see and hear atheists tell believers that yes, they HAVE read the bible, and yes, they HAVE read it more than once, and no, they didn't start on the first page assuming "bull****".
Believers are constantly told that reading the bible helped either SPARK or RE-ENFORCE the atheist's position...
AND YET......
I constantly see believers asking THIS FREAKING QUESTION.
Yanno... why don't YOU pay a little more attention to what atheists have been telling you so that YOU can stop asking your uneducated questions.

You know everything that God wants me to know, do you? Ugh. You can't and you don't, thank God.
Just for the record, I believe VERY firmly in the existence of God, and in the presence of the Divine in absolutely everything. I am a passionate believer.
But I don't believe in your ideas about God. I'm not a Christian. And the only stupid question is the one that's never asked.
Speaking of being uneducated, it's "there," not "their." Nice going.

I believe you are supposing that the bible can speak to everyone the same, but in order for that to happen, you must have a seriously open heart. To approach to the bible with much skepticism and sarcasm, will not get you answers, in most cases. I read the bible with a love for God for many years, and it was boring and only a story to me. Now that I have opened my heart truly to Jesus, my eyes have also been opened, and the bible is my companion, my strength, and my source of knowledge of God. I find it fascinating, instead of boring, and most of the time it speaks into my life and situation, it is the instruction manual for our purpose and fellowship with God. Someone who only wants an argument, finds fault and is lost in the bible. Most of the people asking questions against the principles of the bible will not find answers in it until they ask God to help them find the answers in it. Blessings.

I am not a Christian, and I have studied the Bible extensively. I have taken undergraduate courses about the Old and New Testament, as well as numerous classes about Christianity as I am pursuing a degree in religion. A lot of questions asked by non-Christians on this forum are valid. Not all of the answers are in the Christian Bible. All of the historical context is missing, and most people don't own a proper scholar's Bible.
Discouraging question-asking doesn't solve anything.
