Warm not hot cup of milk with a few drops of vanilla. You can also go to the health food store and get what's called Melatonin. It's all natural. I take it once in awhile and it helps put me to sleep with no groggy after effects in the morning.

Being on the computer will keep me up no matter how tired i should be, so get off of that if its keeping you up. TV has this effect on me sometimes, too.

Read something that you are supposed to be learning for school- that would put me out almost instantly. If you try to stay awake to read a text book - it surely will put you to sleep. Or, at the end of the day write in journal in your quiet room until you can't keep your eyes open. This will also de-stress you if you are anxious about something. Write about what ever is on your mind and hide it in a great spot. Write stories or poetry if you are creative like that.

An exercise someone told me once that I have used on occasion is to flex and stiffen all your muscles and hold it for at least a minute, including every muscle you can think of from neck down to toes, then release and relax all of them. See if that helps you. Also, don't eat anything with caffeine in it - like soft drinks or a lot of chocolate. Sometimes it helps to read scriptures - pick a boring chapter. I think there are a few in the Old Testament, like in Numbers, which are pretty dry.

Sounds crazy but telling yourself (in your head) that you must stay awake actually makes you sleep.

Try counting backwards from 100 and imagine you are next to a waterfall as well.

45mins of soothing music does the trick too.

melatonin tea combined with sleepy time tea, with some warm milk. You can make it in the AM, reheat it in the microwave and drink it in the evening 30 minutes before you want to go to sleep. It definitely works for me, and my partner is a big snorer.

there are actually some good drugs, like Ambien that are non-addictive and seemingly very safe that work.

But I believe that getting aerobic exercise every day has been shown to be equally as effective.
