Racist President of USA...just takes votes...are we safe from democracy?

If the 14th and 15th amendments can prevent a person for running for office on a platform of racism, why can't the separation of church and state prevent what is happening now? I don't think we are safe from democracy...

Of course we're not safe from democracy. Who told you we were? Iran is a republic too.
