Of course hair can not clean itself. It would be a disgusting mess. If you don't want to wash your hair then just shave it off problem solved

I don't think it will clean itself but it would moisturise and condition and hydrates your hair since shampooing and washing the hair everyday can damage your hair, I've tried not washing my hair for three days since my hair was really frizzy because of washing and using hair dryer and hair straightener so I didn't have a choice but not to wash it so it will help my hair moisture back and it did help because it really makes a big difference to my hair now and of course I know it sounds disgusting but I did it since I never really went out of the house, and my hair doesn't smell anyway since the environment here is not really polluted to make your hair smelly.

No it does not!! Once I knew a REAL hippy guy and he didn't wash till summer time, and you never smelled anything so awful in your whole life. His hair was greasy looking, and he looked awful. He was used to the smell, I guess, since he was around it constantly..
That was years ago and I saw him when I first moved back here and he looks like a regular guy now - short hair, clean, neat clothes. So I guess he just got tired of people clearing the room when he walked in.

Have never tried myself but i remember watching a tv programme years ago where someone did it and it is supposed to work...I must admit i have ben washing my hair just once a week for the last five years and it is in better condition than it ever was..much less greasy and it feels thicker as my hair tends to be fine.

Yup when I was a teenager, I wouldn't wash my hair, one reason was I didn't want nits, my hair is dark and long so that's 2 reasons they don't like it, but dirty is a 3rd reason, then I found out it cleans itself after a while and it does, but it takes about a month, you're better off just washing it.

I've heard both sides of this and don't know the science behind it. There was a programme in the UK last year where they tested unwashed hair for bacteria, and found bacteria +++. My grandmother wouldn't wash hers as she started to believe it would all fall out, and her hair always looked OK.

No way, it would turn into really sh*tty looking dreads. Not washing your hair will make it's natural oils accumulate so much that your hair would start sticking to itself, get real heavy with it's oils, and therefore NOT clean... Seriously, have you ever seen a homeless person with bouncy, shiney, clean hair?

i think this is a very wrong statement.. so whoever told you that is wrong... i know i was in the hospital for awhile and they would not let you wash your hair and believe me it did not clean itself...it gets real oily and greasy looking and like you said someone that does not take care of their own self...so i know this is not true... glad to hear that you would not try this yourself...me neither... i had them use that stuff that you put in your hair and it is suppose to wash your hair, but i hate that stuff... nothing feels better than a fresh shower or bath and your hair washed... i do this daily and i enjoy this part of my day....

properly, i do not study about going prolonged sessions of time without washing your hair. inspite of the undeniable fact that, it truly is actual that your hair produces organic oils, and in case you wash it on a daily basis, then it is going to dry out your hair and scalp. I frequently wash my hair with shampoo and conditioner another day to ensure that it doesn't lose organic moisture.

Unless there's something exceptional, I'm sure it's not true.
As you can see in my avatar, I have long hair, and once I was going through almost a month of sickness and I hadn't washed my hair during that time, and no, it didn't clean itself.
