Wow, these people are totally missing your point and by a mile. What does free will have to do with god commanding animal sacrifices? God commands an animal to die for the sins of people. How can you see that not nuts??? What kind of god needs this?????
Or sending an innocent life to die for the supposed sin of a man, how does that solve anything????
I see your point, it's as big as the sun, yet they miss the whole thing and talk about free will.... they're like freaking robots, I swear. Or sheep, right?
Excellent rant by the way

im not here to judge just to answer your question, im an avid believer in god, and i believe in jesus avidly as well.... im black so im sure any problem youve had ive had x 20 ( no offense) i think what the problem is , is that you might be having a tough time right now and feel that its gods fault but thats the entire reason of faith man... when it gets sooo tough that you want to spite god and even kill urself( thought about it once or twice i know i have) you just ask him and tell him ( in the best way that you know how) " i Need your help", because believe it or not god wont put more weight on you than you can handle........ my advice is to watch consatine..... and to your question " what kind of god is this" well hes very understanding once you confide in him plus the paradise will be that much sweeter once youve been threw the test... the test is life...... will you pass or fail its up to you watch constantine its so mod and cool but it has a realy good message..... good luck and GOD bless you. holla

Poor thing !! You got it all wrong. The first thing you need to do is go to the Christian Book store and buy a King. James version of the Holy Bible. Then read it. If you don't have the time to read it then I suggest strongly you walk into a church and listen. God is not vindictive, it is you. You need to get real. You need to ask God to guide you and for forgiveness. You are walkiing upon this earth not knowing the truth. Please take the time to learn the truth. Sounds as if you have a great interest. But you need to know the accurate knowledge. Good Luck and may God bless you, Always !!

The sacrifice of animals (specific animals- spotless lamb, turtle doves) was for the forgivness of sin, prior to Jesus giving His life for ours on Calvary.
16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
John 3:16
16"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

Yeah God sure seems to be a control freak and very hard to please ... always smiting his enemies over the least little thing, or condemning people to death and eternal damnation. All because Eve had something from a forbidden tree. If that was so serious, then what type of punishment is in store for the Enron guys, or Hitler, or a certain President who invaded Iraq and declared war (MURDER), or a TV evangelist who wanted the assassination of a foreign President?
Compared to Eve's punishment, they will get .........

Two answers.....Free will for us. satan, who is the God of most of this world.
If you are unhappy about our world try to help it. He is a just, loving, Daddy who wants us all with Him.
I have seen my son self destructing but was powerless to help him. He had to want to help himself. He has his free will. If God , our Father gave us everything and we had no free will, why would we need Him. All we need do is to ask and seek Him. He will give us what we need. Not what we want. He answers prayers as He sees fit. Not always on our timeframe. Not always the way we want. But, He does answer prayer. God did not ask for us to be the way we are. We wanted it. We did it. With satan's bug in our ears. God must grieve over His children's actions daily. We must break His heart.

It's our choices that make us go to hell or heaven, not God being vindictive. Also, our choices that are the atrocities. WE are the key, God is just, and if we do bad things, He HAS to punish, unless We ask forgivness, even then, He made us, it's his choice to punish or not to punish.

God is not vindictive.
I believe God came into our world as a human to experience our worst behaviour. He came so we could learn to be, to love our brothers and sisters. He didn't want to be killed, but he felt he needed to experience it. He did it because he loves us, not because he wants sacrifice.
Also, he gave us free will and freedom, and with that it comes responsability, and also makes us responsible as human of our actions, and sometimes we're pretty cruel.
We want freedom, but usually we don't want to have the downsides of it.

all I see is sin and a way out.
sin is THAT bad....
how "vindictive" for example, would you be if someone raped your child? I imagine very much so... youd also try to make a way for it to NEVER happen again.

God is all about love, He isn't mean and vindictive. You confuse Justice with vindictiveness.
