If a fish is caught and tossed back it becomes a "charmed" creature and is allowed to hear the tree falling in the forest.

He probably would, and the story would get more exaggerated over time. After all, he has to make himself look good doesn't he?? My guess is that they have some National Oceanic Association for the Recovery of Missing Fish.

Yes ,fish are really aliens from another world,they communicate in the underworld,have fish chats,they communicate thru e.s.p. and sometime have hugh parties,when one is taken and thrown back he reports the action to other fish to be on guard

No, he is so scared that he swims to the very bottom and hides. He doesn't tell the other fish because he figures if they get caught next time, then he won't.
