Blowing air out through my ears, while closing my mouth and nose doesnt help much, it hurts so much.

I have the same problem.

The real root cause is sinus congestion. If you have fluid/congestion in your sinus passages and ears, the changes in pressure can make it very painful. I have bad allergies and seem to always have a bit of a stuffy nose as a result, so flying hurts.

This is what got me through almost 100,000 frequent flyer miles: 1.) drink plenty of water for a couple of days before flying, and during the trip; 2.) take extra doses of allergy meds and/or strong decongestants for a couple of days before flying to try to clear those ear and nasal passages as much as possible; and 3.) doing the blowing air out through your ears routine starting as soon as the plane starts dropping altitude for landing (if you wait and start when you are half way down after the pain has already kicked in, it is too late). Good luck!

I used to go through whilst i'd bypass to Europe. it would initiate whilst the airplane began decending. A stewardess observed me in suffering and got here to the rescue. I do it each and every time I fly now. tell the flight att. earlier than time so she would be arranged. you're taking a strofoam cup......positioned some warm water moist paper towel in the backside of the cup and carry it on your ear very tight. The moouth of the cup over your ear. next time you will have a painless flight. Even ask how long the coolest will take and notwithstanding if it is long she would be able to grant you extra warm moist paper.

I think chewing gum sucks, I force myself to yawn and it works everytime, Just open your mouth like a yawn at it will turn into one. Airplanes make people tired, and trust me you wont look silly I do it all the time, I am a flight attendant, people might ask if i am tired, I tell them it helps, they try it, thank me, and love me. Really it helps.

i had the same exact problem! when i went to see a nose/ear/throat doctor, he told me my ear drums had ruptured.. something about my ears not pressurizing correctly. i wasted 60 bucks to see a specialist to have him tell me all i needed to take was SUDAFED (i use the generic walmart brand, 12 hour relief) and use AFRIN nasal spray (again, i use the generic walmart brand, 12 hour relief).. as long as it's nasal decongestant and nasal spray. i believe i was told to take it an hour before landing but since it's 12 hour relief, i take it 30 minutes to an hour before boarding the flight. seriously.. it works great. try it.

Many people get that. I use earplugs and chew gum. It reduces the pain a lot.

That happens to most people that travel infrequently via aircraft. It is your body adjusting to changes in pressure. It's not dangerous, even though it is really annoying.
