Yes it is for sale in some states, it is no longer the Hamms that you may remember. Years ago it was purchased by Olympia Brewing Co., and they stayed true to the brewing of the product especially since Hamms had great artesian water. When Olympia went belly up and sold to Pabst, they kept the Hamms brand but later sold it to a bottler out of San Francisco who produces labels not product, by that I mean you can have any label produced if you order enough product, so yes the Hamms label appears on the cans and bottles but the product is no longer brewed to the same qualities and recipes that it was originally, it is just a beer in a can using the Hamms name because of the recognition. Most of your generic and store named beers are brewed by this brewer. It is sad for Hamms was a great beer had a great tradition and the bear was famous, sorry to see what has happened to industry where Bud, Coors and Miller dominate and the good regional brewers are closing. That is the same fate that happens when a WalMart opens up you know the big guy comes in and the locals have to close, we sort of lose a little piece of America when that happens, but we also call that progress. Heres to the beers of old may they be remembered and never forgotten.

I came across Hamm's beer recently for sale in N. California in an unknown grocer, was shocked a pleasantly surprised. Says since 1865 however for this post it appears the beer is not the same. Someone would be wise to refresh the quality of this beer, resurface the lovable bear and memorabilia and watch it take off in these times we are living where we long for yesteryear and old Americana. The old add was truly a classic. Going to get myself a t-shirt with the bear... If true the quality has left, then of course they cannot advertise what it was...from the great or the land of sky blue water. Bring it back!

From what I could find out Hamms was bought by Pabst/Stroh's. Their website didn't include Hamms as one of the beers currently for sale.

I haven't heard of Hamms for years. We used to drink it when we lived in California - even though the beer was good, we mostly drank it because of the commercial. It was a bear standing in front of a lake, and the music in the background had the words "from the land of sky blue water - Hamms."

It looks like they don't sell that beer anymore. I've seen tons of Hamms beer collectibles though on www.ebay.com.
