In Illinois, they plant in about April or May. By July, the corn should be about knee-high. It's usually ready for harvest in late August, unless you are using it for grain--then you let it sit and get hard until about mid-September.

Where I live, plant in early Summer, harvest in fall. Exactly how many days depends on the rain and sun. Two weeks after you see the silk, pick and eat.
