do any of you have a 97 850, if so, is it a well made model?

yes it is a well made car. i have several customers that have more than 280k miles. engines are still strong and leak free and because the transmission does not have a readily accessible filter the fluid has been changed often one is now a beater for a rotten kid and has been trashed inside [parents took good care, brat takes none] so i don't expect this one to make 300k but the others will... easily.

I would say away. They are not as reliable as rear wheel driven Volvos (-1994) You can put 500K miles on these B230 series engines. 850 is the first model that they used the 5 cylinder engines so reliability is questionable.

yes it is a well made car.Safe,reliable and if you get a turbo model they can be fun to drive as well.
As far as repairs go find an independant shop that works on volvos alot.The dealers costs are overpriced and if you get a mechanic who doesnt know them well you will be worse off.

Yes, it was well made for a car from a decade ago. today's volvos are much safer and have higher levels of performance
