No it will not go up. Did you call the high patrol? If you have a report from him, keep it. If you didn't keep a copy of the check from the insurance company, unfortunately you might have to use it as proof that you didn't have a at fault accident. In MS, the DMV just states that you were involved in an accident, it doesn't explain what kind, or if you were or weren't at fault. So, insurance agents and customers alike have to prove it was unavoidable. I hope no one was hurt. And I hope your insurance adjustor has taken care of your damages....
God bless us all.............

Kind of a gray area. If it was a stationary object, they will probably consider you at fault. If it is not too much of a white lie, advise them that the object was moving.
If they are going to consider you at fault, consider canceling and getting insurance elsewhere before this shows up on your CLUE report ( a report that most insurance use to see what your claims history is like). Insurance companies only look at this report for new business, and if you are quick and lucky, this will not be on there. Kind of underhanded, once this shows at fault, nothing short of a miracle will get this removed or shown as not as fault.

It depends on what insurance company you have. Most likely not, only if you have more than one claim within a 6 month period. If you have State Farm, they will probably charge you a penalty of 10% for the next 3 years.

If the object was flying then it would be a comprehensive claim and would not affect your rates. If the object hit the ground or was on the ground when you hit it then it would be collision and considered an at fault accident and could affect your rates. I hope this helps.

Really, insurance companies can raise rates whenever they want. Even if your car was hit while parked in a parking lot and you make a claim there is a chance they will raise your rates.

Depends on your company. Each company has it's own set of underwriting guidelines concerning collisions and premium costs. Most likely it will go up slightly -- after all, this wasn't like falling asleep at the wheel and taking out six cars.

We had a boulder come through our window that flew off a truck and my insurance rate did not go up.
