And what exactly were you expecting to find?... People in PR don't walk around naked or with typical clothes (long full dresses for women and guallavera for men) As for the food we eat just about anything here, from typical food to even Thai food.. that includes Italian food like pizza..
Next time you visit I suggest you travel deeper in the island you would really be surprised at what you can find.

First of all the correct spelling is PUERTO RICO (it would bother you if a foreigner call this country unit stats).
Second of all, Puerto Rico is a very Americanized country. The only difference being that the language for the most part is Spanish.
Thirdly, since you sound a little young, most port cities tend to cater to the tourist that most frequent that port. It's call free enterprise. More Americans, more pizza, fried chicken, hamburgers. A lot of Americans tend to be scared to try delicacies from other countries, because they don't know what it is. They would rather give credence to people who say "if I don't know what it is I ain't eating it", than make up their own minds.
As for long pants, and long sleeved shorts. Every day it's anywhere from 80-95 degrees in Puerto Rico. There is a thing that is called skin cancer out there. Also if you see pictures of people in the desert they tend to be covered head to toe in long sleeved tunics. Your body actually stays cooler this way.
I hope that your cruise was enjoyable!
P.S. Next time you have a chance to visit Puerto Rico try, and stay a little longer. Visit a restaurant a little further away from the tourist attractions for some "comida tipica".

Since we are part of the US we also have lots of stuff you can find in at "home" . Although I must admit I do not understand what you ment by "people wearing pants" we do wear clothes although to tell the truth with this heat at times I wish we did need to. It's a common mistake of tourist you really want to see some typical foods and more you need to basically leave San Juan and it can be truly fun a promise. You will find everything from Alcapurias, Cuajito, Lechon, Tembleque, Flan and then some..

Did you expect to find Puerto Ricans wearing clothes like indians or Tarzan? You didn't linger much there, maybe you would be able to see that in Puerto Rico we wear comfortable clothes, but we also dress like celebrities when we have to ... like in all places girl, USA, Latin America, Caribbean, Europe etc...
About the food, I don't know what restaurant you went to, but let me tell you that in PR, the restaurants are delicious. You just need to make the investigation and look for restaurants that serve "comida tipica". Sometimes, there are "guaguitas" in the roadside (parked of course) that serve delicious food like "bacalaitos, alcapurrias, empanadas de yuca". Don't judge anything before familiarize enough with it first. It's a shame that you didn't like it, because PR is really amazing.

Like everybody said, we are part of the US, so you will find a lot of things the same. For the food, apparently you did not research good because we have a lot of restaurants of typical food.

And just what were you expecting to find? people naked on the streets? People like you are the ones that make US Citizens look stupid when they go to other countries, or when talking to people from other countries. When i was an exchange student in the states some of my classmates thought that we Latin Americans lived in trees and did not have electricity or cars and stuff or that my country (Honduras) was in Africa. Better start paying attention in class dumbass.
