Nothing like a little hypocricy and incitement to foster peace. Looks like Iranians want to participate in the very acts they condemn. Way to go Iran!

"Mr Mortazavi said that tomorrow's edition of the paper would invite cartoonists to enter the competition, with gold coins as prizes for the 12 winning artists -- the same number of cartoons that appeared in the conservative Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten lighting the touchpaper for fury which has swept around the Islamic world."

"Farid Mortazavi, graphics editor for Tehran's Hamshahri newspaper, said that the deliberately inflammatory contest would test out how committed Europeans were to the concept freedom of expression."

Great way to ensure lasting peace in the Middle East !

Seems a bit stupid to me anybody with half a brain knows the Holocost happened.

Iran seems to be showing the world just how petty minded they really are.

If we lampoon Iran, then they have the right to lampoon us. Iran (Persia) had a culture as good as the ancient Greeks at the time of the Ancient Greeks. We were running around painting ourselves with woad at the time.

Do you think that the Iranians are totally thick, simply because they are Islamic and live by their beliefs? OK, I don't agree with all of Islam (or any other religion either), but if you espouse freedom of speech for your side, then the opposition has an equal right to the same.

I'm not Islamic - I'm actually part-Jewish. However, if we in the West espouse freedom of speech, the same must be allowed to those who our politicians deem to be our enemies.

If I was a devoted muslim brainwashed by the quran's fabulations and fabrications, I too would find funny the cartoons based on the Shoah, however horrible or historically verifiable the latter is.
