unfortunately yes...it was the catholic church that caused "the burning times" and it took centuries for them to offer an apology. Two links are included below one to buring times info and one to song lyrics.

As a 'witch' I don't think so. In fact I could care less about whether the Catholic religion or any religion thinks about what I am - so for me being a witch is not about being actively against the Catholic religion. I have friends who are Catholic and I don't think that's a problem for them individually, but I'm pretty sure the doctrine of the Catholic religion is against witches and witchcraft in general.

Within the CatholicChristian religion, yes it is said to be bad to be a witch.

"Thou Shalt not suffer a witch to live" Exodus 22:18
Did you know that phrase was changed? That used to read "thou shalt not suffer an ADULTERESS to live! NOT WITCH!!!!!!!!

But the question really should be what constitutes someone as being a witch? It seems a lot of people are termed a witch when they really aren't one!

For instance those who do not follow the Catholic/Christian faith are termed a witch, so are lesbians/gays, even scientists are often termed as witches (as they are the "great changers" of the world), as are just about any person who believes that any slight change from what is "recorded" in the bible is a sin. If you were never baptised you are a witch. If you stand in the window and drool over the latest new fangled electronic item you're a witch. Oh and if you're a single mum you are definitely a witch!

What do you mean by witch? Actually, it probably doesn't matter; they're going to be against it.

If you're referring to being wiccan, yup they're against it. Because you'd be worshipping something other than what THEY have decided god is.

If you're talking about for halloween, that would be ok. Just don't make a big deal of it though.

wow, interesting responses here. i hope most of you realize that all religions have horrible mistakes in their past, why? b/c here on earth we're humans.

i think the whole catholicism being against witchcraft thing mainly comes down to worshipping mutliple gods (the nature gods, for lack of the correct terminology). and also knowing the future (if that is involved in witchcraft).

GOD Bless you all!
(I couldn't resist that since I saw all the "Blessings" . . . interesting word choice, & yes I know it can also mean approval or encouragement, but come on, everyone knows it has religious cannotations . . . )

Is it against the Catholic religion to mass murder in the name of god, and cause millions undue suffering for two thousand years?

Deut. 18:10 and Ex. 22:18 and others.

The Bible says it's forbidden, so yeah, Christian churches, including the Catholic church are anti-witch.

yes. the beliefs conflict. you can't genuinely believe both. isn't it against wicca to be catholic? or are they "accepting" like that so they can bash the descriminating, hating, big, bad Catholic church?
