have a 11 week old kitten. I have no idea how much he should be eating. I feed him one of those small cans in the morning and one in the afternoon and he eats about a cup of kitten chow in between those. His litterbox is FULL everyday of massive sized *** and this little guy has some BAD BAD gas. I'm I just feeding him to much or is he just a nasty little thing ( =

I'm going to try to take him off the wet food but when I come home after work and in the morning he literally chases me down and charges me until I give it to him....scary huh? Is'nt he scary looking? http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/paineless4...

Your not feeding your kitten to much. Kittens eat more often then a grown cat, More then likley the problem is the brand of food your feeding. switch to a good quality food. canned is fine 3x a day and leave dry down to free feed. it should be kitten food not adult cat food. If the kitten has not been checked for worms that should be done..

Wow, do I have a problem with all these posts so far.

Two three oz cans of food is not too much for a kitten. If you are using the crappy grocery store stuff he is still not getting the nutrition he needs. The kibble is 2/3 corn, which is used to give calories and has 0% nutritional value. That is why it is cheap. Do you know that your $4.00 box of corn flakes has about 14 cents worth of corn in it?

You need to use a more "stick to the ribs" kind of food. Buy the Wellness, Innova, or Natural Balance you can find in smaller pet stores. Humans who have high-speed internet connections, cable TV, cell phones etc. need to start feeding their poor cats better food. We all can come up with the $10 dollars a month that good cat food takes.

Read my post under the question of the kitten eating the dogs' food. The RAW diet there would be perfect for your kitten at least three to four meals a week.

I have a kitten that just turned 6 months old and I read that I should be feeding him on demand but I think that is way too much. I give him half a pouch of wet food in the morning with about 1/4 cup dry and the same in the evening. Before I go to bed I give him another handful of dry food. He also has huge poop - I think it's unavoidable. I think wet food is good for their digestion though so I'm not sure you should eliminate it - maybe just cut back.

You're feeding him a bit too much, especially the canned food. Always keep the dry food out for him to nibble on, along with fresh water.
Cut back on the canned food. When he's older, just give it to him as an occasional treat. Dry food is much better for cats.

You're feeding him WAY too much! I feed my cats probably a coffee cup full of food once a day. And I have three.

What you need to do is fill his food bowl and replenish when it gets low.

As for the canned cat food, twice a day is too much. Mine get canned cat food as a treat once a week.

Wow!... you are feeding him too much. Try to get the cat to eat dry food instead of all canned. With the small can of cat food(canned), feed it one can in three days and the rest dry food... over feeding can cause other problems also.. diabetes, etc.

For one, you are feeding him WAY too much. Don't have an idea? Try looking on the bag/can of cat food. You can also talk to your vet about how much food he needs. Personally, I don't feed my cats wet food. It is bad for their teeth and smells gross (going in AND out of my cats).

It is indeed the food, wet food will make runny dookie, when my kitties were little I used to feed them the Purina Growth formula for Kittens, great food! and they never had any digestive problems at all. Stop the wet food.

you are feeding him too much, and a good quality food woud be better. as far as the gas your kitty could very likely have tape worms......i would take him to the vet and have him checked
