Good for you. I don't. I don't want to hear about it.

When the early followers of Jesus spread their message to gentile areas, they were not used to the idea about not eating pork and kosher rules became seen as unnecessary burdens.
When Jesus stated at the last supper:-"Take this wine, this is my blood..." that would have sounded abhorrent since it's stated in the book of Leviticus that the Israelites were forbidden from drinking blood.
As for shellfish, I'm a little confused there because it also stated that anything from the sea may be eaten. (Unless exceptions-which I don't recall-were stated after that.)

I stay kosher too because I'm Jewish (I'm Christian by belief, but Jewish by descent).

When Noah stepped off the ark, God said "Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you;" Gen 9:3 KJV

So everyone at that point was allowed to eat "every moving thing that liveth".

Later, God gave the law to Moses and commanded the Jewish people about what they should eat in the land that God gave to them.

For Jews in the land of promise, it's not good to eat pork, shellfish etc.

For Japanese people living in Japan, it must be ok to eat pork, shellfish etc., because they do and have longer lifespans than any other country on earth!

some people interpret it differently, I guess. Or maybe they're not as strict about those things as you are. Some people like to roll with the times, you know? Things change. Like lifestyles.

Also I noticed a lot of people are saying that was part of the old testament. I guess not everyone follows that. Christians don't typically...follow the kosherness.

Also, some people interpret the Bible as a book of life lessons that aren't meant to be taken literally.

The first Christians were Jews. They went to temple or synagogue on the Sabbath (Saturday) with fellow Jews

Then they gathered on the first day of the week, the day on which Jesus rose from the dead (Sunday), with fellow Christians to tell stories of Jesus and share Eucharist.

Later Gentiles joined Christianity. The Apostles, filled with the Holy Spirit, decided that the Gentiles did not have to covert to Judaism. Therefore, they only attended on Sundays and did not have to abide by Jewish dietary laws.

The moral laws of the Jewish scripture (Old Testament) are eternal.

This has been the practice ever since.

With love in Christ.

well this is a tough one. I think that it depends on the person.some people never even read the bible leave alone understand others interpret it in ways they are comfortable for them. It states that you shouldnt eat pork in the old testamony and in the new testamony it states that all your sinns will be forgiven if you only believe in father, son and the holy ghost and try to live a good live for we are all sinners saved by the sacrifice of jesus. so you see its all a matter of how someone believes and how seriouse he takes religion. some people have alternate religions like buddhists and witches and goths people. Dont be narrow minded and try to learn about other religions. you may be able to understand people around you a lot better

I eat it because it tastes good, I would guess that goes for most other people too.

I don't understand where the bible is relevant in this. First off, I'm not christian. Secondly, even if I were christian, that rule is in the old testament, and Jesus wasn't a big fan of all the rules there.

Why? well for some they might not believe in the bible

And i think it was relevant not to eat such things when the bible was written, Disease and such, but now with things like refrigerators and a better understanding i think there is no risk involved.

Its you choice what you choose to do?

If the bible asked you to jump off a cliff with the thought in your heart that god would lift you upon high, would you do it?

The bible was written by a man, a man who had power, would you hold your life to Holy Scriptures written by George W. Bush?

Because the Bible is an old book of lessons that are not meant to be taken literally. Most of the advice is outdated and does not apply to the moral or ethical needs of modern society. Only fools think it does.
