i guess it depends the extent of the disease. if youre really schizophrenic, i dont think youre well enough to even realize it.

Certainly many are aware they are mentally ill. There are many ranges of schizophrenia, though, and likely (Im not a specialist) many types of achizophrenia the person has completely abnormal perceptions and consequently no conception of themselves beyond a point.

From my experience as a RN, no a schizophrenic person does not realize that he/she is being unrealistic with his/her thoughts of feelings. Often, the schizophrenic person is delusional, or suffering from hallucinations.

They should and so should everyone else around them since delusions, paranoia, and hearing voices are major diagnostic criteria.

I don't think before 20 yrs. of age, but I am no psichiatrist. don't take my word for it. do you think you have schizofrinia?
