First you must check your medichlorian level, then I would suggest getting Jedi training, because if you do it wrong, you'll just die

Wow. That can't be a healthy thing to do.
I had a teacher who was a nurse that once said she's really good at calming herself down and causing her pulse to slow down. But. I never heard of people being able to stop their hearts on purpose. That's just insane. It could be possible, but there's no good reason to do it.
Look at all the people who have heart attacks when their hearts break though. It's definitely possible, but I don't know if they were WILLING the heart to stop. :-(

All I can say is, yes. I was taken to hospital when I had (what the doctors described as) a full mental breakdown during which I completely stopped my heartbeat. When I was hooked up to machines to try to be resuscitated, I started breathing on my own. I spent several months in a psychiatric hospital, unable to even say goodbye to my daughter who was only a few months old. I ve often wondered why, the only explanation they offered me was the fact I had a complete psychotic break. Any other explanation would be nice to hear.

There are many things that people can accomplish with the right amount of mental disciplines. I have heard of people being able to slow their heart beat down amazingly low, but I have never heart of complete stoppage. While the human body is more resilient than people can imagine, there are minimum requirements it must have to stay alive for any given time. Granted the human can survive for minutes with no heart beat or oxygen, but only with immediate or sustaining medical attention.

Some people are capabale of an extraordinary level of biofeedback (that's what such an act is called). But it's something you have to practice. Besides, I doubt you could make your body do something that would hurt it - rather, you could probably just slow your heart rate down to really low levels, like a hibernation state.

No the heart is one of the things we can't mentally stop. Like the liver and the kidneys. I don't think its possible but I can't speak for everyone so I can't be 100% sure.

Yeah, I was in church school (I'm eastern orthodox) and one of the priests said that this one person did yoga and he could do things like hold his breath for like ever, and stop his heart and control all his organs and one day he said he would get in a coffin and stay there for 1 day and he would be buried for a day and he would wake up but he never woke up because he died. SO DON'T DO IT!!!!

Now that you mentioned it, I recall from childhood reading a Superman comic and Superman (as Clarke Kent) feigned death by stopping his heart from beating.
With my "primary school curiousity," I tried that by lying down and thinking about it and although I did it only twice, in both those attempts, it seemed to work. I was amazed.
(But I don't think everyone can do it.)

I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility, but you're talking about people who have meditated and focused all their energy into complete body control. It takes decades to get in tune with your body to that extent.
For the everyday person, the answer is no. Your bodily functions (i.e. breathing, heartbeat, brain activity) is all handled autonomously by your brain and nervous system.

I would say no, but anything is possible, so instead i'll say it is VERY highly UNLIKELY that you could actually stop your own heart by the power of thought.

It might be but I've never heard of it honestly..but your heart is an involuntary muscle, it can't be stopped by thoughts.
