met someone and they became friends, she was told from the onset that he has a girlfriend. She started liking him and before long she fell in love with him. Now she is madly in love with him, but he has his eyes on getting married to his girlfriend, so her goose is kinda cooked. I told her that she could have allowed herself to not fall in love with this guy, she says she couldn't have done anything LOVE FORCED ITSELF ON HER.

My question is, DO YOU BELIEVE THERE IS A POINT WHERE YOU CAN ACTUAL STOP YOURSELF FROM DEVELOPING FURTHER FEELINGS FOR SOMEONE AND AFTER THAT POINT THERE IS NO RETURN????????????????????????

Yes, you just don't allow yourself to like someone who is already taken, just like you don't allow yourself to like someone when you are already taken.
IT IS A CHOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's hard to stop yourself from developing feelings for someone. If your around them I don't think feelings can be stopped unless It's lust. I do believe you can return but you would have to stop seeing that person.

i think love is an action. However, the emotional love that you seem to be talking about can be controlled as well. By not allowing oneself to imagine what life would be like with another person, by reminding oneself that it is morally repulsive to break up another relationship, etc it is possible to not develop such feelings.

No, you can't control your real feelings. But the only thing that your friend can do is to respect what he's doing. Life isn't fair....I've fallen in love with gals that I never got to be with so there. Happens to all of us. Now she needs to find someone else who will love her. Good luck to her.

my grandmother always say "you can't stop the birds from flying over your head but you can stop them from pitchhing on your head" Your friend can start getting over this by telling herself that this guy is gonna be married soon and there is no future there for her and him and start from there. In time, she'll realize that he was not as "in love" with him as she thought. Good luck.

Its hard to stop feelings for somebody. But why in the heaven your friend kept meeting this guy if he told her that he wasn't available? Thats masochism.

She's not in Love!! She's in lust over someone she can't have. It's the challenge that's making her feel like she's in love. She'll get over it.
