I suggest that you allow yourself at least a few weeks to work on this...someone over the net can tell you all manner of things in order to find your true self, however you are, in finality the only one who can do this.
Reaching your inner self, requires a committment of your time, your dedication and your desire to become the person you most admire and look up to...from there, you will analyze what you like about this person, what you don't like...you'll analyze all aspects of their life and see if any of it mirrors your own.
Are you struggling to be someone but are afraid of what the choice of that decision would result in? With fear you will never truly reach your goal to discover yourself. You have to be open to explore and analyze all that you enjoy, hate, dislike, want, care about...etc., etc. From all of this, you can then determine what move next is right for you. Are you brave enough to face ridicule, hatred, rudeness? Are you able to face and accept joy, compliments, love and caring? Can you see yourself living as you are...empty and unsure, or can you actually envision what your live could be like if you just made the decision that is in your heart.
You already know what you would like to do, who you want to be...you simply need to allow yourself to be that person, do these things, accept yourself and others will do the same...those who don't, aren't worth worrying about.
You will benefit from introspection, you really do already know what you will find...you'll find the person who is hiding inside ... a quiet room, soft lighting or candles, lying on the bed or the floor wherever you are comfy...relaxing your body, clearing your mind...tranquil music if you like, incense if you wish. Then simply let your mind envision your life as you would like to see it...it can be anything...it may even be jumbled however the main thing is to let your mind create who you want to be and where you want to go, even if you don't think you know, you will after these sessions....then when you are finished the session, write your feelings, ideas, visions if you will...into a journal.. Do this routine several times, perhaps once a day...you will find it a very relaxing and life altering experience....honestly. I did this when I left my career and had absolutely no idea what to do with my life...for a few weeks I did this process and ended up with who I am today...I am an artist, writer, web designer and mother/wife and I have a life that is peaceful, serence, joyfilled and the one that I think I have always been meant to live but was too bothered by living in the fast lane.
This can help you...if you allow it to. Also you might look into some different beliefs...including furnishing and rearranging of your favorite area to make it into your quiet room where you perform this search.
Good luck and all the best, you WILL find yourself and you WILL be pleased with who you find. Take care

There is a word in Buddhist psychology, tathata, that can be translated as "thusness" or "suchness." It describes a state in which the totality of our being is present; our awareness is not fragmented or divided. In the state of suchness, some part of ourselves is not sitting elsewhere waiting for something better or different to happen. We are not relating to our experience with either desire or aversion, but rather we accept what comes into our lives and let go of what leaves our lives. We are completely present and not beguiled by the token happiness promised by conventional assumptions. In experiencing the freedom of suchness, we discover who we actually are.

The question is, how old are you? I think the longer you live the more familiar you are with your wants and needs and likes, dislikes, etc. Give yourself some time to live and experiance. That is the only way to really find out who you are! Good Luck!

Only you can answer that. You're going to have to assert yourself in new ways. It's a learning experience. I'm currently in a similar phase myself. You're not alone.
I'm sure whichever way we go, it'll all turn out for the best.
Best of luck!

I used to have the same problem........I wrote all my feelings down even if it didn't make sense. I Then looked in the mirror and kept looking at my self till I really saw myself. I reread the things I wrote down and added or crossed out things......Takes time....give yourself that time......and remember who ever you are ......... YOU ARE A GREAT PERSON........
