If we assume the universe was created, then it’s reasonable to assume there was a creator. That’s as far as science has progressed today, but just look how far religion has progressed.

Religion states (fact) there was a creator called God, that God still exists, God also created places called Heaven & Hell, God wrote an instruction book called the Bible, God will banish evil people to Hell, God will send good people who follow the Bible to heaven, that people referred to in the Bible (like Jesus) will return to Earth, and a whole raft of other statements of fact. That’s right, religious fact, not assumptions.

Now tell me truthfully, if science doesn’t even know yet whether the universe was created or not, but religious believers state: “not only was the universe created by God, here’s a whole lot more proof and facts to go with it, what do you think?

Do you think that religious believers just have vivid imaginations or suffer from a common mental illness?

I think religious faith is comparable to being in love with someone. You're blind to their faults, and their drawbacks, which you would immediately see, if you weren't blinded by a strong feeling.

The problem, though, is that when you're in love, you're the only one to suffer the possible negative consequences (not that love ALWAYS has bad consequences, I'm not THAT cynical). Whereas religions make us all their victims, believers and unbelivers alike. That's why they're so dangerous.

Let's assume there is no creator like you like to believe. Tell me how the world was created. Where did the first molecue come from. You can't make something out of nothing. You also can't state with any scientific fact that molecues always existed. That is also scientifically impossible. Where did these magic gasses come from that our universe was supposedly formed from? They couldn't have always existed. If you believe in the magic gases that always were, then I believe you're the one with the mental illness and suffer from some sort of grand delusions. I'm not quoting any bible but if you believe something always was it is impossible. It has to have a beginning. You have no answer what so ever to where that very first molecue came from. Any answer you give is total speculation so you must not know too much and suffer a common mental illness like so many of your kind. Sorry your not mentally well.

Let me start off by saying that a long time ago, when people lifted rags from the ground, they found mice underneath, so they assumed that living matter came from dead matter. Then came along this scientist who proved that life comes only from life. Also, if you look at a wrist-watch, you can see that it didn't just appear out of nowhere. That's stupid. It's the same way with the universe. It couldn't have just come out of nowhere, it had to be created by an intelligent designer. The problem is, it's not that our cultural scientists don't know if the universe was created or not, alot of them are trying to prove the nonexistence of God.

I dont think it has to do with mental illness, i think its more about being confuse and not understanding certian parts of the bible, i know cause im going through it right now and its hard for me but if u dont have the will power to understand then u will get lost, also if u ask the almighty to guide u and make u understand he will answer ur prayer, as long as u are willing to try. also there are so many religions now and days so i understand that its hard. just be wise were u step in!! do ur own research dont be a follower just because.

When you look at Mount Rushmore with the Presidents' faces in it you can say "wow, that's amazing that errosion from the wind and water carved out faces on that mountain" Errosion is a scientific fact and would it be possible for errosion to leave faces on a mountain...sure, but is it the more likely conclusion? Probably not - I believe an intelligent designer carved our mount Rushmore.
Is it possible that one day there was nothing but a pool of elements then one day something spontaneously started living there? Maybe...but is it more likely that life was crafted by intelligent hand? I think so.

Why would you assume religious believers suffer from mental illness?? I'm an atheist and have friends who are "religious" and are as sane as the next person. Vivid imaginations?? Maybe, don't we all at times?? I know some atheist friends of mine who have quite vivid imaginations.

in spite of the undeniable fact that i'm an atheist, i does not evaluate being non secular to be a psychological ailment. faith in basic terms acts as an outlet for the unknown. We do a similar ingredient with movies and books, yet faith takes it to a realm that's plenty greater terrifying than any horror novel.

I think the scientific method is great, but I don't think that's the only way to gain knowledge.

It sounds like you think the scientific method is really the only way to gain knowledge, and if that's what you believe, then you will always be limited to the knowledge that you can get from that. It kind of makes me feel sorry for you when I really think about it.

best wishes

It's called belief. Have you actually met any believers? I am a Christian and my friends are mostly not Christians - however they don't think I'm mentally ill. They think that I believe that the Bible is inspired by God, and therefore true. If you can't get your head around that, then fine. But please don't accuse millions of people around the world, most of whom you've never met, of being mentally ill. Thanks.

IN ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION THE ANSWER IS YES AND NO. A TRUE CHRISTIAN READS GOD'S WORD AND OBEYS HIS COMMANDMENTS. WE BELIEVE THAT GOD IS JUST AND FAIR. HE HAS GIVEN EVERYONE CHANCES TO OBEY HIM BEFORE HE COMES AGAIN TO JUDGE US. WE WILL REAP WHAT WE SOW IF WE DON'T LIVE BY HIS WORD. NOW THE YES PART OF THE QUESTION. YES SOME POOR CONFUSED PEOPLE HAVE LITERALLY LOST THEIR MENTALLITY. IN THEIR FRAME OF MIND THEY HAVE FALLEN TO THE DOCTRINES OF MEN. THEY HAVE BECOME SO FILLED WITH INACCURATE INFORMATION THAT THEY FALL FOR ANY NONSENSE THEY HEAR FROM IGNORANT PEOPLE. NO ONE KNOWS WHEN THE END OF THE WORLD IS GOING TO HAPPEN. YES WE ARE LIVING IN THE END TIMES AND SIGNS ARE PRESENT, BUT NO ONE KNOWS THE DAY OR HOUR OF JESUS'S RETURN. JUST LIVE YOUR LIFE GIVING A REAL EFFORT TO FOLLOW GOD"S LIGHT AND LAWS AND DON'T LET THESE POOR MISGUIDED FANATICS SWAY YOU. GOD IS REAL AND HE WILL SEND HIS SON JESUS TO EARTH ONE DAY. READ THE BIBLE AND PRAY FOR GUIDANCE. LOVE IN CHRIST.
