Okay, my mother has a serious skin rash. It looks like scabs all over her body. IT IS NOT SCABIES....as she has found out. She has had it for about 18 months. No one is able to tell us what it may be. It seems that at night, they seem to get less bright, but the itch is very unberable either way. As the day goes on....they become more and more red and itchy. HELP.....she thinks it may be her nerves, since no doctor had been able to have a diagnosis. Does anyone have any idea what this may be? Thanks.

Has she tried taking an antihistamine like a generic benadryl? Some women get hive like rashes during perimenopause that if scratched can intensify...putting ice on them may also relieve some of the itching...

I do suppose she could have had shingles for 18 months and I do know it can be hard to diagnose But it usually just follows nerve endings and it does not itch so much as it is a pain like being cut with a knife...has she seen a dermatologist?

BTW: Both conditions are made worse by nervousness but who would not be nervous under these circumstances?

Although I am not sure what this might be could it possibly be shingles? If it is the company that I work with called Melaleuca has a product that contains the Melaleuca oil which is very antiseptic in its properties it is also a natural fungicidal but the product is called Renew and it is a lotion. this lotion has been clinically proven to heal even the driest skin sounds like your MOM is in some serious pain and could use some kind of relief. Please let me know if you are interested in finding out more about this and the other great products that we offer. email at birddawg@myway.com

It sounds like your mom has Shingles. The condition is hard to get rid of and itches horribly. It also gets worse with stress. If her doctor is unable to help her she needs to see someone else. Have her see an allergy specialist or rhematologist. She needs to get relief for this as it is painful and itchy. Poor thing. I wish her the best. Oh, and stay out of the sun!!!!

I heard about this recently discovered skin condition they're calling Morgellons. There still some debate as to whether it's real and since I've never known anyone to have it I can't vouch for that but you may want to look into it. Here's a good site to get you started.

I get something weird on my knuckles and elbows that my doctor couldn't really explain to me. I keep getting these dry, dry areas with little pus-filled pockets that form just under the skin. They are tiny, but they ITCH. My doctor kept suggesting lotions and steroids and various and sundry skin-condition things, even antihistamines in case it was an allergy, and none of it works. The only thing that helps is to pop the pustules and get all that clear, itchy fluid out. Dunno what it is. *shrug*
