interesting question. i think you would qualify. the carpool signs simply state 2 or more passengers. they don't specify living or deceased. with that in mind, if the government tries to pull a fast one on you with fine print, you could probably get out of it.

I think it has to be visible to count, just like you can't if you are pregnant. Check with your local law enforcement agency or the mass transit authority.
