This is not actually a question, but, OK.
What is so scary about faith to you?
If someone has "memorized" the Bible..that is quite a feat...shows enormous intelligence and determination-if they had "memorized" the latest issue of "People" or had every episode of "Friends" memorized would you be as offended?
A theory:
You fear what you cannot prove neither disprove...the existence of God. You are probably really young (23 or younger) and "searching". You accept, as a Christian, the KNOWING the all consuming LOVE of God and that Jesus Christ is our saviour who died an unimaginable death for US. I was not a Christian until a few years ago...I am 36 now.
I am a Christian, since accepting Christ MY life has completely changed.
I am happier, in everything.
You should take the Atheist test....just search for it on the net, pretty interesting.
Best Wishes

I had one great aunt who was Jehovah's Witness. She claimed she was a true Christian, even though everybody else disagreed. Another great aunt was a Pentecostal holy roller, and she had the same opinion of herself -- saved, and she thought that nobody else was saved. So between the two of them preaching and dividing the family, it has been a bit much to have to deal with all the in-your-face preaching and witnessing.

I also had a Baptist sister-in-law who was nuttier than a fruit cake. Her family were extremely self-righteous and thought they were better than everybody else. Her mother had a fridge magnet that said, "Christians aren't perfect -- just saved", so the idea was that they were better than the rest of us and that they could do whatever they wanted because God favoured them.

The Jehovah Witness great aunt managed to split the family. She and her children became very strange and they would not associate with the likes of the rest of us. The Pentecostal great aunt was a kinder woman, but everything was very dramatic and strange. The Baptists ... well, my brother is divorced from that woman, so they're history as far as we're concerned.

So for brain-washing --- yeah they sure know how to do it!! And the fact is that NONE of them agreed with the others. They each claimed to be saved and had no regard for anybody else's beliefs!!

I am a Christian - but not a weird, hard core one, and not brainwashed. I do not quote the Bible on Yahoo! Answers, nor do I attempt to convert or brainwash anyone else. You are stereotyping! Many people of Christian denominations live and let live.

Honey, the bible is my life. God comes first, My family second, and everything else wherever I can fit it in. If you ever feel God's presence in your life you will remember this conversation. It is like nothing you ever felt before. He brings a peace that is beyond your understanding. he brings comfort in times of sorrow and yes he brings laughter and joy too. I want to tell you something about myself. I have one son. His wife had three miscarriages within a five year period. The doctors told her she would probably never carry a child to term. She then developed major health problems and needed surgery. She tried one more time for a child. We prayed and she became pregnant again. She stood in the prayer line every time we went to church. She carried twins ( a boy and a girl) full term. She then had to have surgery so there will be no more children. This my friend is a miracle from this mighty God we serve. My grandchildren are now 3 1/2 years old and every time I hold them in my arms I realize how much God has blessed my life beyond measure and if he never answers another prayer then I will serve him until the day I die and be extremely happy to do say. God Bless You.

It's easier for people not to think, especially when they can belong to a group of non-explorers.
Just believing w/out investigation is DEATH to me..
I think this all of the time in my life...even if you try to open up a healthy philosophical discussion many people stick to what they have been fed. Next come the insults and injury of being called a heretic...lol...

Again I must iterate, the bible is a collection of old stories retold. Before there was a bible was there no god or religion? Religions have come and gone. Holy books abound, each religion has one. How can one say theirs is better or correct. I once saw a bumper sticker that read:"My God Can Beat Up Your God."
