Pro illegals, after Bush grants amnesty to these people, allowing all of them to apply for federal programs, etc... and watching your taxes skyrocket, to support these people--

What are you going to do? .... Well.. because you know it will just happen all over again? When these illegals-- then citizens apply for anything and everything to ride the system, are now sponsoring every single family member from the south-- and the babies keep coming left and right, with yet another amnesty protest, and another tax increase, will you still stand pro?

AMEN!

I am sick and tired of being told that I'm "mean spirited" because I don't want to support people who choose to be a drain on society. They come here, but refuse to learn our language and fit into our society.

Instead of amnesty of any sort, we should open it up right now with the following strings attached - learn English and join the military for 10 years, and, after that, you and your immediate family - ONLY your immediate family - can become American citizens.

If they really have it so bad, and they're not just coming here for a free ride, let them make some sacrifices to prove that they want to contribute to our society and not just leech off of it.

Well, like I said in a question before ... what makes anyone think this government will do anything but give amnesty again? With the sweetener about secure borders, etc. ... if you look at the 1986 amnesty, it's the same ****, almost verbatim, as we are debating today:

"In the mid-80's, many members of Congress — pushed by the Democratic majority in the House and the Select Commission on Immigration and Refugee Policy — advocated amnesty for long-settled illegal immigrants. President Reagan considered it reasonable to adjust the status of what was then a relatively small population, and I supported his decision.

In exchange for allowing aliens to stay, he decided, border security and enforcement of immigration laws would be greatly strengthened — in particular, through sanctions against employers who hired illegal immigrants. If jobs were the attraction for illegal immigrants, then cutting off that option was crucial."

Unless this time we really DO stop them, it'll be more of the same ... same amnesties, same lies ... different illegals, but plenty of them ....

The pro-illegal left will sit back collecting their welfare checks, while knowing that we on the right will pick up the tab. Nothing new there.

Rob, if you consider that you argue well, are you saying this is the only problem in our nation?

Since when lately, do we the people have any real say so in the issues surrounding immigration? or Iraq? or gas prices? etc. etc. etc.
